What defines Melibea GmbH today is the balance between tradition and the future. Built on the business history of the Cano family, every milestone over the past decades has led us to where we are today.

Timeline :

1880, Don Miguel Cano Perez founded a blacksmith business to produce agricultural machinery. Tamariz de Campos, Castilla-León, North Spain.

1920, Don Valerio Cano Gutierrez becomes co-founder of Urbon Agro (Agricultural Machinery Trading Company )  in Valladolid / Palencia, Castilla-León, North Spain.

1929, he became the exclusive sales represantative for Caterpillar in Sevilla, South Spain.

1933, Don Valerio founded the chocolate and bonbon factory "San Miguel"  in Dos Hermanas, Seville.

The factory was named in honor of St. Michael the Archangel and its sweets were called “Manolita" after his oldest daughter.

1962, his son Don Benito Cano Pastor moved to Hamburg, Germany, pioneering the introduction of olives to the German market.

The olive was his life's work.

1994, Don Benito took over Cepa S.L. in Cabra, a factory that produces olives.

2020, Don Benito dies in Cabra, Cordoba, Spain. His sons are the successors.

1995, Benito Cano-Zander, son of Benito, becomes managing director of alisa GmbH, later Melibea GmbH, after spending time as manager of a German food retail chain.

2020, Melibea GmbH was founded as supplier of Medical Cosumables ( PPE & Diagnostics -> Copsol Masks ), Non Food-, Animal Feed- Supplier, located in Hamburg, Germany.

2024 - Today, Non Food Products, Animal Feed- and Organic Products, organic cardamom, organic sweet paprika powder, organic salt, spices, herbs, dried fruit and dried vegetables are the main products in the range, which are imported from Spain, EU countries and non-European countries.
Produced as packers brands in b2b items, licensed products under our brands in b2b items or as private label in retail items.

2026 - Naturland certification

Melibea GmbH launched a Naturland project in sweet pepper cultivation and remain deeply involved in its ongoing operations. As a result of this dedication, our company has proudly held Naturland certification since 2026
